SENIOR BOWL PLAYERS THAT POPPED (includes practice)

Eric
Ainge
Tenneessee QB Ainge did not look very good during practice (but none of the South quarterbacks looked good), but had the best game of all quarterbacks.  He was very efficient completing short passes and moving his team.  He led a clutch drive at the end of the game (helped by some terrific catches) for the last second win.

Chad
Henne
Michigan QB Henne had a nice week of practice showing he could make all the the throws and increasing his stock tremendously in the draft.  In the game he started slowly and did not show his "stuff" until his last rotation on the field.

Joe
Flacco
Delaware QB Wow!  That's all I can say.  He looked great in practice.  He has a rifle of an arm and gets rid of the ball quickly.  Flacco clearly has the best upside of all the quarterbacks at the Senior Bowl.  In the game his opportunities to showcase his arm were minimal, but he showed his stuff on a drive in the second quarter.

John David
Booty
USC QB Booty had a good week of practice.  He  showed very good accuracy.  He had an uneven Senior Bowl Game, having some good moments and some bad moments.

Matt
Forte
Tulane RB Forte had a great game.  He showed he could get tough yards up the middle, has a good burst, can catch, and can get yards after the catch.  He had very few plays where he was stopped for short gains.  He did it all and has the look of a top NFL starting running back.

Choice
Georgia Tech RB Choice is one tough son of a gun.  On one play he stiffed armed Dizon and knocked Porter into next week.  Choice had some very good runs and some so-so runs.  All in all, he looked good.

USC RB Washington looked very good in the game.  He showed strength, nifty feet, and the ability to pick up yards after getting hit.  In practices he showed he could ctach.

Dantrell
Savage
Oklahoma State RB The play that impressed me the most by Savage in the game was his block on Thompson to allow his quarterback to complete a pass.  He also showed elusiveness and was able to run up the middle despite his size.  A tough kid who has a future as a third down back.

Arkansas FB Hillis looked very good in the game.  He is tough and showed he can run strong up the middle and can cut in the hole to get extra yards.  At Arkansas, he was an excellent receiver.

Donnie
Avery
Houston WR Avery kept getting open deep and catching the ball in practice.  He also made some great catches.  In the game he made some nice catches including one excellent catch on the final drive.  Most impressive to me, however, was a curl route and catch showing he can do more than just run deep.  Avery is a very good prospect.

Andre
Caldwell
Florida WR Caldwell couldn't be covered deep in practice.  He blew by everyone and showed reliable hands.  In the game he made the key catch on a fourth down on the game winning drive, and it was a great catch, and scored the winning touchdown on an end around.  He is a solid NFL prospect.

Harry
Douglas
Louisville WR Douglas caught the ball well in practice and showed excellent cutting ability and moves.  The game duplicated his practice.  He caught the ball well, showed good moves and cutting ability to get open and showed excellent YAC.  He will be a difficult slot receiver to handle in the NFL.

Lavelle
Hawkins
California WR By far the most impressive player in practice and backed it up with an excellent game.  Hawkins made great catch after great catch.  He did not show great long speed, but he got open, caught everything, and was a highlight reel of superb catches.  In the game he had an excellent kick return, made a great adjustment on a tough touchdown catch, and caught some other balls including a terrific catch in the fourth quarter.  I like this kid, a lot.

New Mexico WR Smith was good in practice showing mostly reliable hands.  He is mentioned here because in addition to a catch and drop in the game he had two special teams tackles so he could be a good development receiver who can help on special teams while he learns.

Adarius
Bowman
Oklahoma State WR Bowman started practice dropping balls but got better as the week wore on.  He had a number of catches in the game and got robbed of a touchdown.  The announcers got on him for not catching the ball cleanly on that play, but that was unwarranted.  It came from watching drops early in practices.
